The standard charger from manufacturers upon vehicle purchase. Perfect for light EV users, we’ll install a standard 120-volt outlet for basic overnight charging–that’s a charging speed of approximately 8 kilometres / hour.

Level 2 EV Charger Installation

Upgrade to a 240-volt outlet for faster charging. Ideal for regular EV users needing quick and efficient home charging. As context for comparison, a Level 2 charger will average 50 kilometres of driving range per hour of charging.

Our Process for Installing Your Electric Car Charger

Our installation process starts long before we start wiring up your home. You can get ahead before contacting us or we can take care of everything.

Step 1: Confirm your eligibility

You’ll need to first confirm that an EV charging station is compatible with your home as a Hamilton resident. You can then book a free estimate with a certified electrician.

Step 2: Inspect your electrical

Our electrical contractors will check everything out and confirm that your electrical system is up to date and safe for the circuit breaker installation for your new EV charger.

Step 3: Purchase your EV charger

Step 4: Get an electrical permit

This is where we step in, for sure. We will apply for an electrical permit for the EV installation so that your charging station is registered with the city of Hamilton, up to code, and ESA certified.

Step 5: Install your EV station

As a general ballpark, the cost will range from $1,500 to $2,500. But things might be different depending on the type of charger and your home's electrical setup.

Level 1 chargers use a standard 120-volt outlet and are best used for overnight charging, taking about 12 hours for a full vehicle charge. Level 2 chargers use a 240-volt outlet and charge in 2-4 hours.

Yes. Before an EV charger installation can begin, a licensed electrical contractor, known as a LEC, will file a notification of work with the ESA. They will also provide you with an ESA Certificate of Acceptance. The certificate is provided once the work is complete–meaning that everything is compliant with the Ontario Electrical Safety Code. Our team will take care of all paperwork and permits for you.
